1. Who did you choose to do a portrait of? Why did you choose that person? 
I chose to do a portrait of my mom because I thought that it would be easier to do a portrait of her than me.
2. When brainstorming about this project how did you decide what would be the best materials to use to create it? Explain how your material choice impacted the look of your piece. Why was this so important. Explain.
At first I was going to use buttons, but then I decided to use beads. If I had used buttons, it would have looked more abstract. the beads make it look more realistic. I used rubber cement and white glue to glue down the beads to the canvas.
3. Describe the risks you took or that were involved in creating the project. What were the challenges you faced?
I had to keep taking beads back up on the face because it ended up looking too dark when it was only pink beads. I added white beads to make the skin tone lighter. I had to start bringing my project home so that I could work on it after school because it was taking too long.
4. How did your choices impact the look and feel of the piece? Did your choice of materials have any connection with the person you chose to represent? 
I chose where the hair strands would go so that it would look like hair and not like a yellow blob. My choice of materials didn't really have any connection with my mom; I just had a lot of beads of different colors.
