For my 3d project I decided to make an origami icosahedron. It has twenty faces and was made of about thirty different modules.

I made the modules from a video on Youtube. The pieces of paper I used were 12in x 6in rectangles. Because the icosahedron was so large, I had to hold it together with tape before it was finished.

I chose the theme simplicity because the shape is a fairly simple geometric shape. I chose to use simple colors to emphasize simplicity.
1. How did you show amusement and variety in your piece? Explain your choice of subject matter and how you created a unified piece of art.
I showed amusement and variety in my piece by making the piece look amusing and by using a lot of different materials and colors. I made the piece unified by making it look complete.
2. Describe your experience with using mixed media. What mixed media did you use for your piece?
My experience with mixed media has been good. For this project I used magazine photos, watercolor paint, origami paper, fabric, and tissue paper.
3. What role did our lessons on visual journaling play in the success of your piece? Explain.
Visual journaling helped me use better techniques. I learned how to use the gel medium to glue down paper and how to photo transfer.
4. Discuss any challenges you experienced and how you overcame obstacles.
Making the trees was difficult because it was hard to find good materials for the trees. I decided to use fabric for the trunk and tissue paper for the leaves. I put paper flowers on them.
